		Susan Bulkeley Butler Women’s Archives The Susan Bulkeley Butler Women’s Archives celebrated Women’s History Month (March) with its inaugural exhibit, a reception, and a new donation of valuable papers from former Purdue deans of women, Dorothy Stratton, Helen Schleman, and Beverley Stone. 		Alumnus donates $2 million to College of Technology, Purdue Libraries Libraries Dean’s Advisory Council member Richard Thomas made a generous gift to the Libraries and College of Technology during Purdue’s Gala week celebrations. Click here to learn more.
		Students compete in 6th annual Digital Cinema Contest The Digital Learning Collaboratory in the John W. Hicks Undergraduate Library recognized student filmmakers in the 6th annual Digital Cinema Contest. Click here to learn more about the contest, and click here to read about the winning films.
		Aviation pioneer receives honorary doctorate from Purdue Purdue Libraries and the College of Engineering co-sponsored Ralph Johnson, a 101-year-old alumnus and innovator in the field of aviation, for an honorary doctorate degree at the May 2008 commencement. 		Pulitzer Prize winning author speaks at Literary Awards Michael Chabon spoke at the 77th annual Literary Awards, cosponsored by the Purdue Libraries and the Department of English. Click here to learn more: http://news.uns.purdue.edu/x/2008a/080319NguyenChabon.html .
		Purdue Press publishes John Purdue bio, open access journals The Purdue Press recently published a new biography of John Purdue, Uncle: My Journey with John Purdue, by Purdue’s niece Irene McCammon Scott. Click here to read more. The Press has also published two new open access journals, taking advantage of online technology to make research more available. For more information, click here.
		GIS research earns national acclaim Chris Miller, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) librarian, has contributed to several research projects on campus that are making a big impact: AlterPode, an interactive map that gives participants a better perspective on geography, was developed by Sorin Matei in the department of Communication with Miller’s help: http://news.uns.purdue.edu/x/2008a/080201T-MateiAlterpode.html Miller has also collaborated on the Vulcan project, to map U.S. carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels at more than 100 times more detail than was available before: http://news.uns.purdue.edu/x/2008a/080407GurneyVulcan.html
		Libraries staff member receives award Suzanne M. Ward, head of Access Services for the Purdue Libraries, received the Virginia Boucher-OCLC Distinguished Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Librarian Award from the American Library Association. Click here to read the ALA press release.
