The Libraries Diversity Residency Program evolved from the Diversity Fellowship Program which was established in 2006. The goal of the Residency Program is the same as that of its predecessor: to prepare a new generation of academic librarians equipped to lead a transformation in academic librarianship while fostering human and academic diversity.
The Residency Program is open to early-career library and information science professionals who are committed to a career in academic librarianship. The Program is designed to encourage and promote the professional development and research contributions of entry-level librarians and to increase the rich diversity of professionals who will become partners in leading a transformation within the field. The two-year residency provides a broad-based awareness of foundational principles and practices in academic research librarianship as well as specialization experiences.
