Census Information


The Census Bureau produces many publications chronicling the U.S.´ demographic and economic development. These publications are available in paper, microfiche, CD-ROM, DVD, and the Internet.  Many Census Bureau publications are accessible through the Libraries online catalog.

The principal index for U.S. Government Documents is the Monthly Catalog of U.S. Government Publications HSSE REF & Periodicals 016.353 Un36 and its also available online from 1994-present. U.S. Government publications from 1976-present can also be searched in the GPO Index on the Purdue Libraries Indexes page.

Census Bureau publications in Purdue Libraries can be found in the HSSE and MEL Libraries. Population census material will be in HSSE while economic census data will be at MGMT.

The Census Bureau also compiles an Economic Census every five years with the most recent being 2002. Print versions of these publications are located in the MEL Library.
