Government Documents on Energy
Energy affects our daily lives when we drive our car, turn appliances on and off, and receive bills from organizations providing us with energy services such as electricity and gasoline. Energy also plays an important role in Indiana's economy as well as in national and international economies. Purdue University Libraries are a selective depository for U.S. Government publications and contain many energy publications from government agencies. Government publications on energy can be found in the HSSE, Engineering (ENGR), and Management & Economics (MEL) libraries.
Many U.S. Government publications on energy are in the libraries online catalog. Subject headings you may want to use searching the Library Catalog include:
Coal--United
States
Energy
Policy--United States
Natural
Gas--United States
Nuclear
Energy
Petroleum
Industry and Trade--United States
The principal index for finding U.S. Government publications is the Monthly Catalog of U.S. Government Publications HSSE REF & Periodicals 016.353 Un36 and is also available online from 1994-present. This database can be searched from 1976 on in the GPO Index on the Purdue Libraries indexes page.
Another useful index is the Congressional Information Service (CIS) Index HSSE REF 328.73 C761C.
The following useful U.S. Government publications on energy are primarily from the U.S. Dept. of Energy but other federal agencies produce energy-related publications. School and departmental libraries are indicated with each entry and some of these titles are in microfiche.
