Purdue Libraries have numerous resources for conducting research on air transporation and the aviation or aerospace industries. These may be in the Aviation Technology (AVTE), Engineering (ENGR), Humanities, Social Science, and Education (HSSE), and Management & Economics Library (MEL). Aeronautics and State United States (Good for finding works on U.S. Government aviation policy and government support for the aviation industry.)

United States Transportation Security Administration (Use to find works about this government agency. You can also search for this and other agencies and organizations as authors in the OPAC.)
Journal Article Databases
There are numerous library databases you can use to find scholarly and trade journal articles on the aviation or aerospace industry. Purdue's MEL Library has prepared a number of useful resources on their website which provide guidance on searching for information about company and industry resources.

Academic Search Premier (Provides access to articles in a variety of different subjects.)
America: History & Life (Provides access to articles from U.S. & Canadian History journals.)
Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (Provides access to U.S. Government publications from 1976-present with many recent items being full text.)
Historical Abstracts (Provides access to history journal articles for countries besides the U.S. and Canada.)
LexisNexis Academic (Multifaceted database providing acces to U.S. and international newspaper articles, some industry analysis, laws, and U.S. federal and state court cases.)
PAIS International (Provides access to political science and public policy journal articles and some U.S. Government documents.)
Economic Census 2007 Published every five years, this U.S. Census Bureau resource provides statistics about U.S. economic activity including statistics on individual industries. Does not provide information on indiviedual firms for privacy reasons, but you can use it to find how many aviation or aviation-related companies are in a particular geographic region.
Federal Aviation Administration-U.S. Dept. of Transportation agency responsible for regulating the civilian U.S. aviation sector.
Bureau of Transportation Statistics-Transportation Dept. agency responsible for compiling statistics on all U.S. transportation sectors.
