Business & Industry

    B&I is a broad-based business information database. It is international in scope and covers important facts and figures, and events occurring in all manufacturing and service industries.  Information is selected from over 1,000 leading US and international trade journals, general business publications, newsletters, newspapers covering events and news from more than 190 countries around the world. Approximately 60% of the references include the full text of the articles.

Major Statistical Sources

Datastream

    An extremely broad and deep database of international financial information.  Equities (stocks), indices, interest rates, futures and options are just some of what is available in this resource.

EIU CountryData

A database of annual, quarterly and monthly economic indicators and forecasts. EIU CountryData gives you access to 278 series on 117 countries and 40 regional aggregates, running from 1980 and forward to 2005.

Export.gov - FAS and USDA Market Research Resources

Exporter guides, food and agricultural regulations, commodity reports, and agricultural reports are just some of the items available. This site also includes the Global Agricultural Information Network database (GAIN) of 23,000+ reports.

Global Development Finance

A World Bank database that tracks the annual movement of international capital flows to 138 countries.

International Financial Statistics

    Data gathered by the IMF on exchange rates, money and banking, interest rates, prices, production, international transactions, government finance, and national accounts for most countries.

Statistical Yearbook: United Nations

    An electronic version of the U.N. Statistical Yearbook, international stats compiled yearly by the UN. Topics include agriculture, education, finance, manufacturing, social statistics, and trade.

Stat-USA

    STAT-USA is a primary point for access to government business-related statistics of all kinds including the National Trade Data Bank (NTDB). The section entitled "Frequently Requested Statistical Releases" includes all types of economic data from GDP figures and interest rates to housing starts and retail sales. A searchable version of Commerce Business Daily is available here as well as the Survey of Current Business since 1994. 

World Development Indicators
World Development Reports

    World Bank data from publications such as Social Indicators of Development, World Debt Tables, and World Tables. WDI is a searchable database of over 500 different demographic and economic data elements. World Development Reports contain in-depth analysis of a specific aspect of development.

Country and Regional Information

Asia-pacific.com

    An invaluable resource for users interested in business and economics in Asia and the Pacific Rim; offers an informative assortment of resources, news, and data.  The site links to respected media sources throughout the region including Singapore Business Times, Jakarta Post, and The Australian, as well as in-depth journal articles, book reviews, tables of contents, and purchasing information.  Data analysis includes links to economic sources, company annual reports, and trade reports.  Users are also invited to send their questions and queries to Asia-Pacific.com's panel of experts.

Asian Development Bank Online Publications

    The Asian Development Bank's Depository Library Program, a worldwide network of about 140 libraries, offers the public free access to ADB documents and publications, and for the NGO network. Publications provided include books, selected country and economic studies, technical papers, annual reports, statistical publications, documents on loans and technical assistance projects, environmental impact assessments, and public information materials.

Consumer Europe

    Reference book containing consumer, product and brand related data on Europe.

Country Background Notes

    The U.S. Department of State publishes Background Notes that provide information on foreign countries and international organizations and are updated periodically.

Country Commercial Guides

- inside STAT-USA (Choose GLOBUS/NTDB then scroll down and select CCG on the right)- Country Commercial Guides (CCG's) are prepared annually by U.S. embassies with the assistance of several U.S. government agencies. These reports present a comprehensive look at countries' commercial environments, using economic, political and market analysis. The CCG's were established by recommendation of the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee (TPCC), a multi-agency task force, to consolidate various reporting documents prepared for the U.S. business community.

Currency Converter

    OANDA 164 Currency Converter offers current and historical exchange rates on 164 currencies.

Deloitte Global Country Guides

Over 60 countries are covered in the Deloitte Guides. Coverage includes a snapshot, business/regulatory information, and human resource/tax information.

Doing Business In...

    Print volumes in campus libraries on legal, tax, business, and cultural issues when conducting business in countries other than the United States.

Doing Business: World Bank

    The Doing Business database provides indicators of the cost of doing business by identifying specific regulations that enhance or constrain business investment, productivity, and growth.

Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean

    ECLAC provides regional headlines, analysis and research, statistical information, and press releases on the social, economic, environmental, and managerial aspects of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Global Economic Prospects and the Developing Countries 2000

Lexis-Nexis Academic - Country Profiles

    Academic Universe, LEXIS®-NEXIS®, is a full text database containing primarily legal, business, and newspaper sources.  Search for news items on over 25 different industry areas.  The Country Profiles section often contains an overview, a chronology, biographies of famous nationals, and statistics.

Market Insight (S&Ps)

    Market Insight delivers Standard & Poor's Stock Reports, Corporate Action information, Business Descriptions, Executive Compensation data, Recent News stories, Standard & Poor's Industry Surveys, DRI Country Overviews, CIA WorldFactbook Statistics, COMPUSTAT Financials, and more. MI offers a full suite of informative reports, with links between industry peers for fast comparisons, and links to country-level economic data. Users can screen for companies that meet key financial and market criteria. 

Pacific Exchange Rate Service

    Access historical time series exchange rate data on 70+ currencies.  Data is available daily or monthly  for some currencies back to the 1971.

Portable Encyclopedia for Doing (Business In...)

    Series of books in the Mgmt & Econ Library's Reference Collection on conducting business in a select group of countries.

Source OECD

    SourceOECD is the online publications portal of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. It will comprise 19 Studies by Themes, containing all our monographs and reports; 19 periodicals online; some reference titles online; and the OECD statistical databases online.

Travel Warnings & Consular Information Sheets

    Travel Warnings are issued when the U.S. State Department decides, based on all relevant information, to recommend that Americans avoid travel to a certain country. Countries where avoidance of travel is recommended will have Travel Warnings as well as Consular Information Sheets.

U.S. Global Trade Outlook 1995-2000

    Assessment of America's place in the global economy by highlighting growth and trade trends in key countries and sectors. Projections are based on publicly available forecasts for the U.S. economy.

World Bank - Countries & Regions

Access is available to numerous reports, statistics, news articles, and other development-related documents on a wide variety of countries. Information focuses on World Bank activities that impact each country including development and trade issues.

World Factbook

    A publication of the US Central Intelligence Agency that contains statistical and textual information on the countries of the world. Information on economic, population, and geographic topics can be found within this resource.
