Paramaribo

Paramaribo, Netherlands, Guiana

June 3, 1937

Rain clouds hung thick about Caripito when they left on the morning of June 3. The flight from Caripito to Paramaribo, the capital of Netherlands, Guiana was interesting. Instead of following the coastline, they cut across dense virgin jungle. Strong head winds cut the speed to an average of 148 miles, which included dodging squalls and flying low. No make shift airport, this was one of the best natural landing areas Amelia had ever seen.
