WHO MAY REQUEST REPRODUCTIONS OF MATERIALS?
Purdue University Archives and Special Collections offers duplication and use
of many items in our collections to the Purdue University community, researchers,
and the public for scholarly, educational, and journalistic purposes. Personal
requests are discouraged.
HOW MANY ITEMS MAY I REQUEST?
Up to twelve items may be requested for duplication at a time
unless an exception is granted by Archives and Special Collections.
HOW DO I REQUEST IMAGES?
Items may be requested by filling out the Duplication
form and submitting it to Archives and Special Collections
at the address or FAX number listed on the form.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS FOR REQUESTING IMAGES?
There are two costs associated with each request:
- ARCHIVES PRESERVATION FEE
This fee is determined by the Office
of Technology Commercialization (OTC)/Purdue Research Foundation,
and the amount is based on the nature of the request. This
fee applies only if the materials requested
are to be published, exhibited, publicly displayed, mounted
on a website, or broadcast in some format. Often commercial/for-profit
use is more expensive than non-profit use. A minimum preservation
use fee of $75 applies to each request, unless a waiver is
granted by Archives and Special Collections. For information
on the preservation use fee applicable to your request, contact The
Office of Technology Commercialization.
- DUPLICATION FEE
This cost recovery fee is based on the staff time and supplies
needed for duplication of materials. Rates are subject to
change over time.
2005-2006 DUPLICATION RATES, PHOTOGRAPHIC
SERVICES DEPARTMENT
For 5x7 or 8x10 photographic prints: $20.50 each
For scans, the rate is $12.50 for every 15 minutes scanning time
($50 per hour)
To have images burned onto CD, there is an additional charge
of $1.50
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY IMAGES?
Typical turnaround time for image processing is one week, not
including the necessary mailing time for prints and CDs. Second-day
and overnight rush orders are available at additional costs.
Information on Rush services is available on the Duplication
form. Researchers seeking to publish, exhibit, or broadcast
the materials should allow additional time for securing necessary
permissions.
HOW WILL MY IMAGES BE DELIVERED TO ME?
Orders are mailed first class through the U.S. Post Office,
and shipment may take approximately five working days. UPS
Overnight shipping is also available upon request, at an additional
charge. If Requestors have current accounts with FedEx or other
global delivery companies, these shipment methods are also
available. Scanned images may also be sent via email, if the
file size is not too large.
HOW DO I PAY FOR MY IMAGES?
All payments for images must be made by wire transfer or check
drawn on a US financial institution. No purchase orders
or credit cards will be accepted. Please wait for invoice
before making payment.
The Archives Preservation Fee is set by the
Office of Technology Commercialization, and applies only if items
are to be published (in print, via audio/visual means, on the
web, or for public display). After filling out the Duplication
form, the Office of Technology Commercialization will contact
the researcher regarding costs for using the materials. Payment
for the Archives Preservation Fee must be made payable to the
PURDUE RESEARCH FOUNDATION. Contact the Office
of Technology Commercialization with questions regarding
publication fees.
The Duplication Fee is a cost recovery fee based
on the staff time and supplies needed for reproducing the items. Following
receipt of the items requested, the user will receive a separate
invoice for the duplication costs. Payment for the duplication
costs must be made payable to PURDUE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES. Payments
should be mailed to Archives and Special Collections at the address
on the Duplication
form.
