Stanislav Grof
Stanislav Grof, M.D., (Charles University Prague, Ph.D., Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, 1965), has worked as a research scientist and professor of psychology at Johns Hopkins University, and was Chief of Psychiatric Research at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center in the 1970s.
Grof developed Holotropic Breathwork with his wife, Christina, while he was a Scholar-in-Residence at the Esalen Institute. He is founder of the International Transpersonal Association, which has organized major conferences on transpersonal psychology. In October 2007, Dr. Grof was the recipient of a VISION 97 award granted by the Foundation of Dagmar and Vaclav Havel in Prague.
