Philosophy (How do we do things here?)

The Hicks Undergraduate Library promotes an active and dynamic learning environment, with a strong teaching and service commitment. A student-oriented, teaching attitude is apparent in all aspects of the Undergraduate Library's mission and practices. Valuing the role of each individual, the Undergraduate Library fosters positive thinking, creativity, and flexibility in the provision of its programs and services by encouraging individual initiative and motivation within the context of a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Open communication among the staff and with our patrons enhances an atmosphere of mutual respect and responsibility. This ensures that the Undergraduate Library remains open to constant evaluation, plans for developing the most effective programs to serve the changing needs of users, and serves as a leader not only for the University, but the world as well.
