Diversity and Making: A Podcast and Video Series

Episode 1: Making as Self Reflection - Dr. Avneet Hira

Avneet Hira's Profile Picture

In our first episode of Diversity and Making: A Podcast and Video Series, we speak with Purdue alumni Dr. Avneet Hira (Ph.D., Engineering Education) about her path into Making and the ways in which Making is unique from engineering design practices. Making is a physical recording of your creative process. Making is about exploring ideas and then proving they work.

Dr. Hira has designed a project that we hope you’ll try! It is called Mood Avatar and it is about exploring and expressing your experience on campus during the pandemic. We have 25 materials kits available to pick up for free! You can pick them up at the Asian American and Asian Resource Cultural Center (AAARCC). The AAARCC is located at 915 5th Street and it is open M-F, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. You are welcome to stay and make your avatar at the AAARCC. There is also an outdoor study space/tent behind the AAARCC that you can utilize. Please submit images/videos of your avatar to the link above to be featured on our website and social media. We're excited to see your avatar!
